Konwahawíhshon was one of the co-leaders of the Kanien'kehá:ka village of Karonhiakèn:iate'. Along with Karonhiaktátie', she was in charge of tending to their people and the village's activities.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Not much was known of Konwahawíhshon's childhood, but as an adult, she appeared to be one of the Kanien'kehá:ka's village leaders. In 875 CE, Konwahawíhshon met Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, who arrived at their village after sailing from England seeking the location of Gorm Kjotvesson,[1] the Wolf Clan's de facto leader[2] and the Maegester of the Wardens of War sect of the Order of the Ancients.[3]

However, the conversation between Konwahawíhshon, Karonhiaktátie', and Eivor was stagnant, as neither leader spoke Saxon or Norse while Eivor was unversed in any Kanienʼkéha. When Sýnin landed on Eivor's arm, Konwahawíhshon dropped her suspicions and thus Karonhiaktátie' did as well. As Eivor appeared to be friendly, Konwahawíhshon led her to the village's waterfall, where the seer known to the residents of Nyhofn as "Olav the Unlucky" was being kept. After introducing Eivor to Olav, Konwahawíhshon took her leave.[1]

As Olav told Eivor where she might start her hunt for Gorm, Konwahawíhshon walked around her village as Eivor set on her path.[4] Following Gorm's assassination, the Kanien'kehá:ka's nightly session of stories around the fire took place at the village. The first speaker was Konwahawíhshon herself, who spoke to the small audience of Karonhiaktátie' and a handful of adults and children.[5]

Konwahawíhshon concluded her tale as Eivor regaled her story next. While the Viking recounted the story of Loki's treachery and Baldr's death, Konwahawíhshon and her people sat by and listened. At the end of Eivor's story, Konwahawíhshon and Karonhiaktátie' talked with the Viking, who revealed the Crystal Ball she had taken from Gorm. Konwahawíshon was given the Crystal Ball for protection and in the hope that the Kanien'kehá:ka would know its true purpose in time. Later, Konwahawíhshon and Karonhiaktátie' bid farewell to Eivor before she left to return home.[5]
