Dolios was a Spartan officer who was deployed in Megaris during the Peloponnesian War.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 431 BCE, Dolios was one of the soldiers deployed under Nikolaos and Stentor in Megaris to conquer the city of Megara. After harbor was secured, Dolios was sent to scout the forested area southeast of the harbor.[1]
Dolios later came across a Spartan convoy that had been raided with the soldiers slaughtered. He enlisted the help of the misthios Kassandra to find out who had slain the Spartan supply convoy and demanded them to be brought to justice.[2] Afterwards, Dolios further requested that Kassandra eliminate Hyrkanos, a mercenary who worked for Athens. When Kassandra returned to report her mission and receive a reward, Dolios retorted that there was no contract signed and that Sparta would be deeply grateful for her help.[3]
