Dalkeith is a city in southern Scotland.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1296, the Scottish Brotherhood of Assassins hired Sören and his band of mercenaries to take Fillan and Ailéas from Berwick to Dalkeith,[1] a village then held by Patrick de Graham of Kincardine, who would oppose the invading Englishmen.[2] Upon arriving at the end of April, they found the village preparing for Bealltainn, as if the English had not invaded Scotland.[2] Before Bealltainn, however, an English patrol stationed themselves less than half a mile east of Dalkeith. Sören took Kyle Macdougall, Edan, and Fillan to eliminate the patrol,[3] which they managed to do without alerting them.[4] Hundreds of people from neighbouring locations made their way to Dalkeith for the festivities, with many bonfires illuminating the city. People were out on the streets, dancing, drinking, and laughing for an entire day.[5]
