Catherine was a healer who lived in the Landes region of France, and the adoptive mother of Margaux and Ermeline. She was also responsible for protecting the original Shroud of Eden, which had been entrusted to her by the Assassins Florine and Isaac du Queyran alongside Margaux.[1]
In 1609, Catherine was denounced for witchcraft by a patient and taken to Bayonne, where the inquisitor and Templar Pierre de Lancre questioned her for the Shroud's whereabouts. Catherine refused to talk and was burned alive in front of her daughters.[1]
