Taureas was a Spartan commander who lived during the 5th century BCE.

Biography[edit | edit source]

During the Peloponnesian War, Taureas was stationed in Elis. His unit was driven out of their first campsite by wild boars, and Taureas was forced to leave behind his 'token of luck'.[1]

A short while later, he won a gamble against an actor who was meant to play the Spartan officer Dienekes in a play by Thespis. As the actor was unable to pay off his debts, Taureas employed him as one of his slaves. Later on, Taureas made a deal with the Spartan misthios Kassandra in exchange for the actor's freedom.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Taureas is a character in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey whose name is based on the Latin word taurus, meaning 'bull'.

Regardless of who controls the region, Taureas will always be a Spartan commander, although his men wear the green of the unaligned. Depending on the player's actions, he may be knocked out and recruited as a lieutenant for the Adrestia.
