==Character Description==
''The Eyes saw all, but were led by a woman few had ever seen. As one would expect, "Nyx" was only one of countless names worn by The Shadow. With these came entire personalities, lives, and histories. The Cult needed a nobody, a faceless agent who could be anywhere, and The Shadow was that agent.''
==Biography==
Nyx the Shadow was a master spy working for the Cult of Kosmos who was eceptionally skilled in stealth and information gathering. No one, not even the cultists working for her has seen her face, it is possible that Nyx is not even her real name because she has used many alias's to gather the information she needed.

Her job was to gather information on the important figures of the Greek world, and use that information to the Cult's advantage, either to blackmail or steal from the important figures. She was often described as one of the most fearful Sage's of the Cult, and this was proven after she found out that one of her cultists, Sotera, was keeping information from her. She retaliated by giving an unknowing Kassandra a letter revealing Sotera's location, knowing that she would kill her. She was also known to carve symbols in her followers robes or gloves, possibly as a way of '''marking them as her territory'. ''One day, she sent Midas, one of her followers, to clean up a ritual that the Worshippers of the Bloodline left behind. Kassandra tracked down Midas however, and learned of Nyx'x location, thus leading to her demise.
Another clue to the identity of The Shadow was found by Kassandra among the personal effects of [[Hermippos]], who had the word "Nyx" etched on his gloves, as an apparent act of fealty.<ref>''Assassin's Creed: Odyssey'' – Cult of Kosmos clues: Etching on Hermippos's Gloves</ref>

―Nyx the Shadow[src]

Nyx the Shadow (died 431 BCE) was the Sage of the Eyes of Kosmos branch of the Cult of Kosmos during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Despite her youthful appearance, Nyx had made a career of being 'The Shadow', a faceless agent who could be anyone by the time of the Peloponnesian War. This skill in crafting believable identities, complete with entire histories and lives, made Nyx a valuable asset to the Cult of Kosmos, and she rose in their ranks to become the Sage of the Eyes of Kosmos.[1]

Peloponnesian War[edit | edit source]

During the Peloponnesian War, the Ghost of Kosmos sent a letter to The Shadow instructing her to "share nothing" that she observed with the Cult, only with the Ghost, telling her that Kosmos himself did "not just command it, he demands it."[2]

It was rumored among the Eyes of Kosmos that The Shadow was bearing a grudge against one of the Eyes, Sotera, due to her "hiding something" from The Shadow. One of Sotera's fellow members sought to warn her, and urged Sotera to escape before "the other child of the bloodline" could find her.[3] Ironically, the letter instead helped the Spartan misthios Kassandra find Sotera, and recover a clue to the identity of the branch's Sage.[4]

Another clue to the identity of The Shadow was found by Kassandra among the personal effects of Hermippos, who had the word "Nyx" etched on his gloves, as an apparent act of fealty.[5]

At some point, The Shadow sent a letter to Midas, another member of the Eyes of Kosmos as well as their treasurer, urging him to hurry with the news that "Agamemnon and all traces of his lineage" were eradicated from the world. Why The Shadow wished to see the very memory of the mythical king Agamemnon destroyed was never discovered.[6]

Eventually, Kassandra managed to gather enough information on The Shadow to uncover her identity and find her in Athens, where she slew Nyx. With the death of its Sage, the Eyes of Kosmos branch was wiped out.[4]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Nyx is the primordial goddess of the night in Greek mythology. The word itself, νῠ́ξ (núx), means 'night'.
