Wulfaswic was a Norse settlement in southern Essexe in the 9th century.
History[edit | edit source]
In 875, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir staged a kidnapping of Lady Estrid of Essexe, in order to help her back to Francia, and took her to the settlement of Wulfaswic. There, they met with Rollo as they discussed Estrid's upcoming departure.[1] However, Alfred's soldiers found the location and tried to "rescue" her from Rollo's men. Luckily, Eivor and her allies held them off and defeated them. There, Rollo left with Estrid for Francia as Eivor bid them farewell.[2]
