"Legends have come to me concerning lions of Wessex that have taken hundreds into their fangs like flies to shit. Children on dainty jaunts, mothers, babies, and the like. Succulent prey."

The Wildcats of the Weald

The Wildcats of the Weald were a legendary duo of lynxes that lived in Hamtunscire, Wessex. The Young Lynx was the smallest of the duo. The Elder Lynx was the biggest of the duo. Together, the pair represented a huge rarity, when compared to usual population of lynxes in England.

History[edit | edit source]

In the 870s, Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan travelled around the region of Hamtunscire. Along her journey, Eivor came across a hunting log, which gave an account of a wild lynx pair that had hunted people of all ages and sizes in Wessex. Eivor looked around the area of The Dark Weald in Hamtunscire and soon saw the lynxes on a patch of grassland, which had corpses of half-eaten deer and horses in its vicinity.

Investigating the area, Eivor saw the lynxes playing with each other. Upon entering their domain, Eivor startled the pair, which yowled strongly and then began to fight against the warrior. Throughout the battle, the young lynx happened to jump on top of Eivor's back and gnawed at the warrior, until she tossed him off. After a long and gruesome battle, she killed the creatures and collected the Elder lynx's head as her prize.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The grassland the duo resides in has a limited supply of blackish purple russula and raspberries with which to replenish Eivor's stamina and health, and only a limited variety of arrows to refill her quiver, increasing the difficulty of the fight with these legendary creatures.
