Bureau names

I was going through some of my old school stuff and I came across my Arabic notes. Turns out, the plural of Rafiq is Rafiqan (pronounced Raa-fi-kaan) and the feminine form is Rafiqa or Rafiqah (phonetic spelling, so you get to choose =P). The meaning remains the same but the current system is slightly inaccurate in terms of grammar, and might be considered a little sexist. You guys might want to fix it. Possible Mistake?

Hi Sima, I don't mean to bother you, but I would like to point out what I believe is a mistake on the Connor Kenway page. This may be wrong but the image descripted as traditional mohawk outfit, near the bottom of the artwork section, I believe is wrong. If I remember correctly, Alex Hutchinson stated that this was concept art before the American Revolution setting was decided upon. This was supposed to be a different assassin, based in Chille.

Ofcourse this could be ancient news, however i didn't read it anywheee, is it possible that the system of money including lootijg is gone? Because in the trailers i didn't saw any money, and when connor stand next to a body i didn't saw any looting options? Image policy

What's our policy on letting other wikis use images uploaded by our users? I've lurked a moment on my native AC wiki and they're blatantly taking and renaming our images with no sign of any sort of credit, or just using them as they are without even a rename. Our policy usually is to politely tell/ask them to source their images and templates back to us. Threatening to report them to Wikia also tends to work, but Wikia is a free license so they aren't breaking any rules. -- Master Sima Yi _Talk 15:38, September 21, 2012 (UTC)

AC1 memory pages

I've been thinking that we should create pages for AC1 memories, like we have for the other games. The Animus interface for replaying memories has descriptions and memory images of those, and they're not that different from subsequent games. We can create a forum where people can list suggestions for a naming system and see which one is the best. Assassin's Creed: Initiates has gotten pretty big, and I think we should make it collapsible like Abstergo Files or 2012 Conversations. As for Timeline, I think some images, and making it collapsible in a similar way would be a good idea. I'm in a discussion on a forum wether altaïr is familly of ezio audotire in ANY kind of way

I know that desmond has both of the DNA in his blood, and that altaïr is not directly familly, But is he not familly of ezio in any ither way "not speaking of adam and eve" but was altaïr's ancestor not dominic auditore? Or something like that. Or do i have been fooled? Is altaïr familly of ezio in any way but adam and eve, or are they completly not?

Ezio and Altair are only related through the fact that theiy share a common descendant: Desmond. It doesn't "have" to stay there. Plus what you added is not factual. It was an accident, and as you can recall, Ezio also killed Tarik, who turned out not to be an enemy. Ezio also caused the deaths of numerous civilians when inciting the riot at the arsenal and when blowing up the ammunitions deposit in Cappadocia. Twitch TV Embed Interest?

My name is Jorge and I'm on Wikia's Community Development team. I actually want to reach out to gauge your wiki's potential interest in embedding some Twitch TV content. To that end I'm contacting both you and fellow admin Vatsa.

To give some background, Wikia is interested in working with Twitch to get some native embeds for interested wikis. Twitch provides live-streaming of games, from simple lets-plays to massive tournaments and competitive events. Embedding could allows users to easily find streaming content or get together to chat about particular events. If the wiki is interested, you could also have you very own wiki channel/group to stream content to users, make your own show, etc.

Do you think this is something the AC wiki community might be interested in? Of course you don't need to have permission to edit a page. The problem is that the infobox unnecessarily stretched the page, and that there is not a lot of relevant info to put in it at this point. Image re-ups

I've been recently updating images in Brotherhood memories, upscaling 1440x808 images to 1920x1080. Vatsa takes issue with this however, saying that it's unnecessary, given that the thumbnails are only 250px. I respectfully disagree.

First, it shouldn't matter what size the thumbnails in the articles are, people open the thumbnails to have a look at the actual image. Everyone likes highest quality and resolution possible when it comes to images, and I feel we should provide as such. Secondly, most of the images I've replaced so far lacked categories and information box - I've been adding it as I went. Thirdly, some memory pages still had blurry, cropped pictures uploaded by other users than V or myself, and so I am adding the new images there as I go.

As a user long before I became a member, I was very disappointed when I would click for a larger scale picture and it wouldn't be a high quality image. Fort Wolcott

Hey Sima, I found a video from GT.TV on Fort Wolcott, with some new info on the mission. Alex Hutchinson pretty much said; "It’s part of a loop with a character called Peg-Leg who believes he knows the secret of Captain Kidd’s treasure, and if you find treasures for him and trade them in, he’ll give you maps to secret hidden locations " (along those lines). And Robert Faulkner referred to someone as Lucky-limb I think? He says he was a convicted pirate in prison, so his scroll would be in his cell. I'd like to add to the Fort Wolcott page, but I'm not sure how to word this info appropriately and under what guidlines. Transparent thumb backgrounds

Hi Sima, long time. Just quickly, I've noticed that on all the MP character pages, people are avoiding putting a thumb box around the images because it simply places the character on a grey background. Whilst this is not ideal, it is certainly a lot better than just having some dude with a rifle floating in the air on our articles.

Since you have access to MediaWiki:Common.css, would you mind inserting this coding:

div.thumbinner {background-color:transparent;}
div.thumb {border-color:[grey, white, black, you choose];}

That should make the thumb background transparent (much like our character infoboxes are) and, subsequently, cure us of our flying people endemic. I'm at work right now, so I probably wont be around when/if you test this for me, so if you can get back to me on my talk page with a report on whether it was successful or not, I would appreciate it. Massive Error

Hey Sima Yi dude I found a very very very huge error on this wikia. Specially being Ratonhnhaké:ton. Connor Kenway is the appropriate name to be used for the bio. You used the following example incorrectly "For example Suleiman the Magnificent is called Suleiman I. Real names have always taken precedence over the names people are most known by".

The Magnificent aspect of the name is an epithet attached to a persons name and not an adopted name. Generally the Epithet was not even used during the persons life at all while an adopted name is. Not to mention I don't even think the Ottoman Empire used Roman Numerals to denote successors sharing the same names.

Because i thought the animus only allowed to see the memorys how they have been in that time. How is it possible in ezio's position. That he could save pietro. Connor picture

I'm sorry, but this is an actual render from a promotional poster, not taken from any video. And it's layered, not manually cut like the other one, which seems to be taken from some background image (the blue reflection is still there as well as many other artifacts). And better quality is not in question, since the other one has been magnified and therefore you can see it pixelized when in full size, while mine is not. Lower resolution doesn't mean lower quality. I agree with you that everything Ubisoft has said and shown regarding Daniel's involvment in a "Denver incident" indicates it is the DIA Satellite Accident he was involved in, but you know our Sourcing policy; It must be explicitly stated. Unfortunately, 'a guy who knew a guy, who knew a guy, who worked for Ubisoft' is not an explicit source.

Lucy Legacy section

The thing about Lucy was in Assassin's Creed III, not extended universe stuff. I understand if you don't think it's important enough, but I found it very strange that all present-day characters were suddenly aware of her betrayal when it was never given much attenion in Revelations except in DLC. If anyone happens to know how they found out (maybe it was Desmond exploring the Lost Archives), I'd love to know, but so far it feels like a continuity error. How much of the ending? You saw the part where her stepmother was trying to open the seal but couldn't because she didn't have the right DNA, right? When Aveline goes to Chichen Itza, there are TWCB temple ruins where her DNA activates the puzzles to get each half of the giant artifact as it does with the seal. I guess if this info were on her page, it'd say "It is implied that Aveline was a descendant of Eve." It's also interesting to note that the amulet she wore around her neck looks exactly like the one Connor took from Lee and buried...TranquilTempest^{Qu'est-ce que c'est?} 23:07, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

That still makes it only speculation, and I'm afrait we can't put that on there. The message at the end of the game may just have been meant for a particular player of the product, for all we know. The whole game is just very vague. You didn't do it all completely with error. You looked at the examples set by other articles which is a very good thing, but the main problem is that you made too many sections and used too many images causing the page to be very crowded. For all other articles the image size is always 250px as well. I do not know who removed the images, but I think it would be because they are YouTube images and they will get removed inevitably anyways. My advise would be to use less sections, or make the sections a lot bigger, and using some quotes also helps to make the pages look neater. :) -- Master Sima Yi _Talk 14:44, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

Any image is allowed as long as it's relevant to AC and is properly sourced, but us staff members would appreciate it more if people simply did not add low quality YouTube images because they will be replaced in about a month, after either Vatsa or Kain start to upload images to the memory articles. They can get HD images, and thus they will replace all those low quality YouTube images that have been previously added. It will be more hard work for us to find and track all those low quality images and then delete them all, and we'd rather avoid all that. We have seen this happen before with Brotherhood and Revelations, and it's just too much hard work in the long term. Yes, that was sarcasm. It's because nowadays I just spent my days deleting people's images because they were either very low quality or were unsourced. And for every image I deleted, it just comes back up alongside another one. You'll forgive me for being angry at you about this, but with all the extra work I have to do because people don't bother reading the image policy I'm just getting mad. As for your image, the image was of obvious low quality and low resolution and we don't allow images like that. Nickname/Adopted name

Sima, I don't really think that we should be adding Connor just because it's easier. People who have played AC3 can easily recognize who "Ratonhnhaké:ton" is, and the whole point in his article is to inform those who aren't aware of him.

Even if it is an adopted name, AC3 is mainly focuses around Ratonhnhaké:ton's efforts to preserve his tribe, so I personally feel that by trying to swap his name out for something that might be a bit more "newbie-friendly" is just pointless. He doesn't even take on his father's last name of Kenway, so why stick with Connor when we can have his Native American name, which has more of a meaning behind it? I said we should be using Ratonhnhaké:ton because it has more meaning, not Connor. Ratonhnhaké:ton is his Mohawk birth name, his article is under Ratonhnhaké:ton, and it has more symbolism to it (the Life Scratcher). I mentioned his father's last name because society typically goes by the name which has both a forename and a surname, but "Connor" doesn't, it's rather plain, and Ratonhnhaké:ton shows more of his culture.

Even you say yourself that we should realistically be using "Gilberto" for La Volpe, even though he's mentioned as La Volpe in the games and most often in the books, but while Connor is used in the game mostly, it's only because he himself decides that it'd just be easier for the Colonists to say. He is referred to as Ratonhnhaké:ton in his tribe and starts out by trying to use that name for himself (Achilles is the one to give him "Connor"), and he spends most of the game fighting for the safety of the Mohawk.

Connor's birth year

I just changed it to 1756... Haytham's memories end in July 1755. Kaniehtí:io became pregnant then, so the child couldn't possibly still be born in 1755. Images are ordinarily postponed as a priority for the PC users, because they getbetter quality images. The ones you added I felt were lacking, so they went. Greetings. I know that we have intereated a few times before, mixed would be a good definition, but I frequtely come here for AC related things. As I was pursuing my email today, I came across this form IGN about Assassin's Creed Anthology. Ubisoft plans to release all five games for 150 euros, sorry in the US so I don't have a euro symbol on my keyboard, but only in Europe. Inclusion of The Tyranny of King Washington information in articles

Hi Sima. Since the upcoming DLC has been publicly confirmed as being non-canon, we have a sticky issue of how exactly, we're going to include the information in the articles. Now, strictly speaking, since the information is non-canon, it shouldn't be included in our articles, as per the sourcing policy, but personally (and since it is released by Ubisoft), I believe the information should be included.

My main issue is, if the information is to be included, how? The way I see it is we have two options: 1) dump the info at the bottom of the article and entitle the section as "non-canon" or something like that, or 2) we include it in the main body of the text and create a template (much like [Template:Spoiler]) that is collapsible; that way we keep the continuity in our articles together and it will, IMO, look much more presentable. I have something to add to this. If we start making articles or adding information about non-canon elements, we should also include more information on the modern day elements of the non-canon French comics, but for this, we should make pages such as "Desmond Miles (French comic)" and such, especially since we already have articles on characters such as Jonathan Hawk. Non-canon information has no place inside the main body of text, even if it does have a collapsible; personally I do not find the collapsibles very cosmetically appealing in the middle of a bunch of text. I think making a separate section is the right thing to do; and like that, we can also put all the French comic information like that on articles like Desmond's and Lucy's, since we probably should really do that at some point as well. - And I got an edit conflict from Gabriel. That's fine by me; I think we can make it work either way. Having a separate section underneath for non-canon information, so long as it is officially endorsed and/or created by the developer (we'll need to make this extremely clear, or we open ourselves up to a flood of anon dribble getting dumped in our articles), would work fine.

Just figured I'd nip this in before the talk page archive, since I can't reach an administrator on the IRC and it may be more to do with your area of expertise.

A user proposed that we rename Colonial Assassins to "British Colonial Assassins", in order to differentiate them from the French and [Spanish Colonial Assassins|Spanish Colonial] Brotherhoods during the time, but when I went to rename the article, it was locked with admin access only.

I did not delete your image, but I assume it was deleted because it did not meet our Image policy. All images need to be sourced using Template:Information. This may seem like hard work to do for all images, but it has helped us greatly with preventing so many images from being uploaded and them not being used later on, and prevented people from asking questions where they got an image from. Seems more like a bug rather than a canon occurence. There is no canon explanation for the effects of a Piece of Eden to transpose onto an Animus subject. If that could happen, Desmond would likely possess the powers of the Apples of Eden too, since his ancestors wielded them for so long. I have to be agree with Sima that there is no logical canon explanation, the whole bleeding effect explanation is rather speculative/conjecture. Looking at those big blobs of text with no visual representation is not very pleasing, so some more images (while not crowding the pages with images) seems like a good idea to me. But yeah, more images seems like a great idea. I already had some trouble finding appropriate images since they are either hard to find or there are just not very many on the same subject - like I was trying to find images for both Horizon in ME2 and ME3, but for ME2 there were some weird angle shots and bad quality images and for ME3 there weren't any with a real look at the whole situation. And well, if the admins take any issue with what I do, they should put it somewhere clear to see that what I do is not acceptable. Besides, before I even got my hands on those pages they were already using existing pics on them. yeah, that. the lack of storyline-relevant pics was no accident; i was basically the only one left grabbing images when the ones before me went inactive (and i understand some of those still living are more active here) and my image focus was initially for walkthroughs. i basically provided the weird-angle shots (not the shit-quality ones) for ME2 horizon and everything else on horizon ME3. the reasoning being that i intended to show readers what kind of terrain and/or enemies to expect since those were for mission walkthroughs after all. not to mention the whole issue of image overkill should i try to jam everything significant on them. preferred working on a page by page basis since it clears my head better on what images to get - and i haven't touched the storyline segments yet because of that. :/

you're also right about the big blobs of text. for the most part i try breaking those up whenever i encounter them (as long as it doesn't conflict with the MoS). and there's certainly a lot of those in the storyline bits.

regarding the headsup with admins, it's just in case. can't tell what they're thinking so i can't say anything but give fair warning. the wiki -is- known for being strict, i think. Arabization of names

Hello Master Sima Yi; I would like to propose using the transcription to Arabic alphabet in the case of the characters of Arab ancestry in the series. I previously tried adding two on their infoboxes, but it has been withdrawn by a bot. If you or some responsible agree I'm willing to do some of the work, although I haven't studied Arab language so my participation could be limited. Formatting is poor; paragraphs are not in synch with image usage, image placement had not been kept in mind when writing the article so it looks disorganized (images are placed next to paragraphs that have nothing to do with the image). Well to save space there is an alternative solution, however maybe not the best one. What we could do is put Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood and Revelation under one title in Main Games (renamed from Desmond's trilogy) and make them subcategories under Ezio's Trilogy. Then ACIV can be moved under the category Main Games, while Liberation can stay in other along with games such as Bloodlines, Altaïr's Chronicles. -- Altaïr 14:37, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I realize that. The other thing is what you consider of priority. The games or the media. Now with Media added you can't show the other games. Windmills in AC3

I noticed something odd while free-roaming in AC3. While the game is paused, the windmills keep moving (at least on my PC version). I think it is something worth mentioning, but I have no idea where to put it. Do you have any idea? BRX (talk) 20:43, March 14, 2013 (UTC)

Hello, as i'm new to this wiki stuff ect. I'm after some advise i suppose. An addition I made was removed or deleted from Edward Teach's page with the note (let it be as it os for now). I just wondered why? As on the page it says that it is a stub and is in need of expansion and that was what i was doing, adding relevent infomation about the character to the page and expanding it.

Is not his birth place just as important to the page as his place of death is? (which is stated on the page and hasn't been removed).

If you could advise me on the matter it would be appreciated.

It is because you added information from an external source, not from any of the Assassin's Creed media. Assuming that real life information is correct in the fictional universe counts as speculation and assumption, and that is not allowed.
