Kuma's Lookout was a residencce that belonged to Lady Oichi's bodyguard Kuma at Hachiman in southern Ōmi, Japan.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki member and samurai Yasuke traveled to the house and met with Kuma, who asked for his help to deal with the daikan of Omi who abuses the power over his fellow townspeople. Yasuke later returned to Kuma at his lookout and informed the daikan of his success. While thanking Yasuke, they discussed how Kuma came to be in Lady Oichi's service through her late husband Azai Nagamasa. Before Yasuke left, Kuma gave a list of more corrupt daikans to deal with, for him and his fellow Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe.[1]
After killing all the corrupt daikan, Naoe and Yasuke met with Kuma outside his residence. Thanking them for their success, he showed them inside where they met with Lady Nene. Thanking them herself, she explained that their work freed Lady Oichi and it will provide a great path for the late Lord Oda Nobunaga's dream of uniting the whole country especially for her husband. Before leaving, Nene gifted them an amulet Minogame's Protection and gold as their reward.[2]
