Island Monastery

Island Monastery was anAnglo-Saxon Christian monastery along the River Severn in the central part of the region, southwest of Caersws. It was guarded by a sizeable military force.

In the 9th century, it was raided multiple times by the Vikings Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, Vagn, and her longship crew.^[1]
