Eivor overlooks the Flooded Slums

The Flooded Slums was a poor neighborhood, submerged by the water from the river Seine, in southern Paris, West Francia.

History[edit | edit source]

In 886, jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan was tasked by Elgring Clan's jarl Sigfred to find and eliminate the Bishop Engelwin. After following some clues around the slums, Eivor began investigating the Sainte-Geneviève Church, in search for the bishop.[1] After a series of events, Eivor found herself in the midst of preparing for the siege alongside Sigfred and his niece, Toka Sinricsdottir. Toka told Eivor of a former fling, within the slums, that might be able to help with the siege.[2]

Thus, Eivor went to look for the Breton smuggler, Nolwenn. Eivor searched for Nolwenn in the slums, only to find an empty warehouse and a past correspondence letter between Nolwenn and Queen Richardis. Within the slums' church of Saint-Julien, Eivor found both Richardis and Bernard besides a prayer circle. After speaking with Richardis about Nolwenn, Eivor was told by Bernard of her possible location. Leading Eivor, Bernard showed an underground passage to Nolwenn and then left, wishing her luck. After finding and saving Nolwenn from Frankish soldiers, Eivor asked and convinced Nolwenn for help. Nolwenn divulged to Eivor of the Wooden Bridge's weak infrastructure and gave Eivor a key to the bridge's foundation before leaving her.[3]

Through her travels, Eivor also ventured into the underwater crypt besides Saint-Julien. Swimming through the crypt's waters, Eivor came to be in a passage, infested with plagued-ridden rats. Maneuvering through the passage, Eivor found herself in a room where she saw a small hole below a wall. Sliding under the hole, Eivor found a chest, looted it, and acquired the Scythe of Tribulation.[4]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

In the game, a rundown version of the church of Saint-Julien happens to be found in the center of the Flooded Slums.
