Erik the Red

Erik Thorvaldsson (c. 950 – c. 1003), better known as Erik the Red, was a Norse explorer and the founder of the first settlement in Greenland. He was also the father of Leif Ericson, another famous explorer.^[1]

Originally from Iceland, Erik was banished and his family joined him in leaving the island, settling in Greenland.^[2]
