Aswig was an Anglo-Saxon bard in England during the 9th century.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Aswig worked as a bard, making songs and rhymes. Much to the annoyance of many local residents, Aswig often imposed on people when singing, following them around. Fed up with Aswig's compositions and lack of personal space, the locals tied her up at some ruins in Essexe. When the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan encountered a bound Aswig, she decided to free her. She soon regretted it, however, as Aswig choose Eivor as her new muse, and started following her around. After killing some nearby wild boars, or raiding the nearby camp to give her some inspiration, Eivor paid Aswig to leave her alone.[1]
