Aquila (town)

Aquila was a town in late 9th century Evresin, West Francia.
History[edit | edit source]
In the late 9th century, rumors were flying around the town about how underneath the town's crypt were cycles of "deliverance." In truth, these rituals led to torture and death, in honor of the "faithful."[1]
Around 886, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir sought to find the missing Queen Richardis under King Charles' instructions, in trade for peace talks. From her investigation, Eivor found out that the nun, Little Mother, had the queen hostage in the crypt of the town, Aquila. Traveling to Aquila, Eivor probed the area and found the crypt, but it happened to have been locked. Probing the area near the crypt, Eivor found the missing key near a grave and then entered the crypt towards the Aquila Sewers.[2]
