The Zarax Point

The Zarax Point formed the easternmost region of Lakonia, Greece. The smallest region in Lakonia, it bordered only with the Helot Hills and the Aegean Sea. A natural spit, it featured the Fort of Praisai.

During the Peloponnesian War, the misthios Kassandra visited the Fort of Praisai in the region, having been tasked by King Pausanias to cull rogue krypteia, one of which was stationed at the fort.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Zarax Point as it appears in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is a condensing of about 40km of eastern Lakonia coastline. The actual geographic feature depicted was in ancient times called Akro Minoa, thought to have been the location of an old Minoan trading post and the modern day location of Monemvasia. The regional name is named after the ancient town Zarax, about 11km north near the modern day Ierakas. The fort is named after the ancient town Prasiai which was located an even further 24.5km north of Zarax near modern day Kyparissi, Laconia.
