"We rule with chaos and destroy those who oppose us."
―Zoisme

Zoisme (died 431 BCE) was a member of the Cult of Kosmos, part of the Worshippers of the Bloodline branch.

History

By the Peloponnesian War, Zoisme had made a name for herself among the people of Phokis. Dubbed "Zoisme the Mad", the peasants and drunkards of Phokis claimed that Zoisme was in the habit of taking priests who opposed her, and tying them to the trees in the forest, setting her wolves upon them. They also claimed that she slept in bear dens, stalking the roads leading to the Sanctuary of Delphi. As the story went, she waylaid pilgrims on their way to see the Pythia, and dragged them off to eat them.[1]

In 431 BCE, Zoisme sent a letter to a fellow Worshipper of the Bloodline, Harpalos. In it, she complained about the other Cultists gathering in Phokis, expressing a desire to feed them to her wolves.[1]

Sometime after Elpenor's death, the Spartan misthios Kassandra tracked Zoisme down into a bear den in Malis, where she had befriended and taken up a residence with a great white bear. Kassandra slew Zoisme and found her mask, engraved with symbols that served as a clue to the identity of the Sage of the Worshippers of the Bloodline.[2]

Personality

Zoisme preferred the company of predators to that of people, surrounding herself with wolves, and then bears.[1]

In her letter to Harpalos, as well as her journal entry, Zoisme expressed a desire for flesh, believing it to be the best way to worship Kosmos, as well as a thought that Harpalos alone among all the people might understand that desire. In her journal, she declared her belief that the great white bear in Malis was some kind of an expression of the deity, wishing to find it so that she "might be closer to (him)", the "Great Suffering Lord" she worshipped.[1]
