War contract

From the Assassin's Creed Wiki
Revision as of 10:07, 4 October 2023 by imported>Sol Pacificus (It is confusing to say "the Spartan misthios Kassandra" in the same sentence as saying she was fighting for both sides. This is one of those cases which shows why it's important not to always rely on a set sentence formula. Good writing means writing organically, not formulaically. / Batfan, you've been editing long enough to know that italicization uses apostrophes ('') not quotation marks (").)

A war contract is a legal agreement by a government to a priviate individual that they will render payment military service.

During the Peloponnesian War, both the Athenians and Spartans offered military contracts across Greece to enlist the aid of mercenaries into their war effort. Among the most successful of these mercenaries was Kassandra the Eagle Bearer, who opportunistically accepted contracts from either sides depending on their alignment with her own goals.[1]
