War contract

A war contract was a task set by warring sides, who assigned the destruction or killing of their opposition. During the Peloponnesian War, both Athenians and Spartans assigned war contracts across Greece to lessen the other's power. The Spartan "misthios" Kassandra accepted contracts of both sides for her own personal gain.^[1]
