Thyia was the sister of Lalaia's magistrate Periktione who served as the village's acting general during the defense against the Sons of Xerxes during the Peloponnesian War.

After defending the village against the Persians, Thyia lent her services to the Spartan misthios Kassandra on the Adrestia whenever she needed it.^[1]
