Thebes is a city in Greece and the capital city of Boeotia. In the 5th century BCE, it was among the most powerful Greek city-states, rivaled only by Athens and Sparta. Prior to the Peloponnesian War, it was the home of the Legendary Seven Warriors.^[1]
