Tantalos, also known as Tantalus, was an individual in Greek mythology. He was the son of Zeus and the nymph Plouto.

Mythology

Tantalos is famous for his eternal punishment in Tartaros: fruit on branches of a tree in the middle of a pond were always just out of his reach, and when he bent over to drink water, the water disappeared.[1]

Simulation

Tantalos's fruit tree could also be found in Aletheia's simulatation of Hades, protecting the solution to one of the Ainigmata Ostraka.[1]

Trivia

  • Tantalos is the father of Pelops, a king revered in Elis, in Greek mythology.
