Statue of Athena

The Statue of Athena was a colossal bronze sculpture of Athena, the patron god of Athens, which stood outside the Parthenon, on the Akropolis in Athens, Greece, during the 5th century BCE.

In 431 BCE, the Spartan misthios, Kassandra, visited the statue, where he met an Athenian general, Demosthenes. The general requested Kassandra to collect various seals from Spartan polemarchs in forts across Greece.^[1]
