Shergar was a former monk at Augustine's Priory in 9th century Cent, England. Shergar later found work as a body double for thegn Tedmund.

Biography

Shergar studied as a brother with other monks at Augustine's Priory but soon found clergy lifestyle to be not to his liking and left the church. Once outside the monastery, he found work under thegn Tedmund's employ as his body double.[1] Later, Tedmund instructed him to pose as the thegn and oversee the work at Beamasfield, a lumber mill in Cent.[1]

While Shergar was at the mill, the Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq spotted him while scouting and mistook him for Tedmund, then hurried back to share the information with Abbot Cynebert and the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir. Basim and Eivor then kidnapped "Tedmund", who pleaded for his life and insisted they had the wrong man while they took him to Cynebert.[1]

Upon meeting Cynebert, Shergar pleaded for mercy and told the group that he was not Tedmund but in fact his body double. Under the threat of his own life, he noted that a bunch of Danes were recently taken hostage and suggested that Eivor and Basim could use the reinforcements. Agreeing with this assessment, Shergar was released as Eivor and her allies agreed to help the captured Danes.[1]

Behind the scenes

Depending on Eivor's choice, Shergar may help her and Basim release the captured Danes or leave with Cynebert, who advises him to keep a vow of silence on the matter. Later on, Eivor may encounter him in Beamasfield, where he will thank Eivor for giving him a second chance and promise to work for the good of Cent. [citation needed]
