"The Sanctuary of Delphi. The gods themselves watch over this land."

Concept Art of the Sanctuary of Delphi

The Sanctuary of Delphi is best known as the ancient home of an Oracle of Apollo. Located on the slopes of Grand Mount Parnassos in Phokis, Greece, the sanctuary houses the Temple of Apollo where people sought out the Pythia.[1]

Due to the Oracle's presence, the Sanctuary of Delphi housed many gifts brought by people either seeking or thanking for the Pythia's guidance. These included, but were not limited to, the monuments of Epigones and Militiades, the Naxian Sphinx, the Korkyraean Bull, and Tripods of the Deinomenids.[2]

The Greeks also considered the Sanctuary to be the center of the world.[3]
