Robert L'Estocq was a member of the Parisian Rite of the Templar Order who, alongside his wife Victoire, was amongst the most powerful and connected Templars in Paris.

In the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian War in 1870, Robert fled to Tours while his wife remained behind in Paris to continue receiving information amongst the Parisian leaders.[1]
