Paul Verlaine (1844 - 1896) was a late-19th century French poet known for his contributions to the symbolist and decadent literary movements at the time. In 1873, Paul and his lover Arthur Rimbaud traveled to Brussels together, but hit a rough patch when he tried to shoot at Rimbaud in a jealous, drunken accident.
