Paros is a Greek island situated in the Aegean Sea as part of the Cyclades. At the time of the Peloponnesian War, it was considered the wealthiest of this archipelago thanks to its great marble mountain and the corresponding quarries overseen by the local militia. By 431 BCE, the population of artisans working on the excavated marble had surged, but this economic boom also ensured that Paros paid the highest tribute to the Delian League out of all member states.[1]

Like many islands in the area, Paros boasts a pristine environment of white, sandy beaches, azure blue waters, and cypress trees.[1]
