Abu `Abdallah Muhammad XII of Nasrid (c. 1460 – c. 1533), known to the Castilians as Boabdil, was the last Emir of Granada from 1487 to 1492. He led the last Moorish resistance against the Christian kingdoms of Spain. Though their views clashed from time to time, he and the Assassins were allies throughout his venture.

Biography

During the siege of Granada in 1491, Muhammad was captured by the Templars and held within the Alhambra palace. In doing this, the Templars prevented the Moors from surrendering to the Spanish, causing the war to drag on.

The Templars planned to keep the war going to prevent Queen Isabella from funding Christopher Columbus' expedition to the New World. However, the Assassin Ezio Auditore was able to infiltrate the palace and free Muhammad. He also persuaded the Emir to surrender to Spain, effectively ending the war and thwarting the Templars' plans.

His son Ahmed was kidnapped in 1492 by Templars to coerce Muhammad into handing over the Apple of Eden in his possession. During his ransom meeting with Grand Inquisitor Tomás de Torquemada, the Assassins Aguilar de Nerha and Maria ambushed and killed all of the Templars save Torquemada, including Ojeda to rescue him and retrieve the Apple. Ahmed was reunited with his father although Maria perished in the battle. Aguilar afterwards fled with the Apple and later hands it over to, entrusting it to Christopher Columbus a short time later.
