Lamia

Lamia was a village of the Daughters of Artemis located within Pandora's Cove in Malis, Greece. The house of Phyllidos was a residence within the village.

During the Peloponnesian War the Spartan misthios Kassandra visited the village and recovered an Ainigmata Ostraka in a house in the village.[1]

Behind the Scenes[edit | edit source]

In Greek mythology, Lamia is a woman who was cursed by Hera to become a child-eating monster.

While Lamia was a historical settlement, there is no record that it was solely inhabited by women nor even that it was a major cult center for Artemis worship.
