Gortyn is a municipality and an archaeological site on the Greek island of Crete. In classical antiquity, it existed as a city-state alongside Lato and Kydonia on the island. The city's law code was also the oldest of the Occidental world.

Trivia

In Greek mythology, the city was where Europa, the wife of Zeus, gave birth to Minos, the King of Crete.
