Euneas was a Spartan admiral who served under Myrrine in Naxos during the Peloponnesian War. They had grown close.
In 429 BCE, Euneas was sent on a diplomatic mission to Paros on Myrrine's orders. However, the mission was not successful and he was captured, his ship and its crew destroyed. When Euneas failed to return, Myrrine sent Kassandra to locate his whereabouts and return him home.[1]
Kassandra found one of Euneas' men alive within their wrecked ship, and the man told Kassandra that they were ambushed by the Parians. Others, the man said, including Euneas, were taken to the Fortified Marble Quarry in the middle of Paros. After that, the man passed, and Kassandra infiltrated the quarry. She overheard some of the men on the site talk about Euneas, and shortly afterwards found and freed him.[1]
After they'd made their way out of the quarry, Euneas told Kassandra that he thought there was something different about Paros, its people; he'd witnessed a meeting where one of the people present had worn a mask unlike any he'd seen before. With that, Euneas and Kassandra parted ways, and Euneas returned to Myrrine to tell her what he'd seen.[1]
