Crawley, also known as Crawleah during the Anglo-Saxon period, is a town and borough located directly south of London in West Sussex, England.

History

Anglo-Saxon period

In the 9th century, the town was only a small village known as Crawleah. In 873, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir hunted down one of Fulke's scouts by the river north of the settlement on the suggestion of the Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq. After an ambush from Saxon soldiers, Eivor and her ally Soma destroyed Fulke's supplies stored in the village.

Victorian era

The British Assassins Ethan and Cecily Frye resided in the town and conducted their Assassin activities there due to the Brotherhood's inability to establish a stable base in London, which had been under the control of the Templars since Miko's death in 1754. Ethan would later save George Westhouse from robbers in Crawley's riverbank and would induct him in the Brotherhood.

Much later in 1847, Ethan and Cecily's children Jacob and Evie Frye born and raised in the town to also become Assassins. As Evie trained with their father, Jacob would explore Crawley's gambling dens and factories. After Ethan's death in 1868, George Westhouse served as their guardian and coordinated assassinations in the nearby town of Croydon.

In 1873, George Westhouse met with fellow British Assassin Pierrette Arnaud to discuss her findings from Cairo of business affiliated with Templars stationed in London. However, when George looked at the list, he remarked that most of these business closed due to the Vienna stock market crash except a steamboat business called Drake Line. Welcoming her back, George offered Arnaud a place in the Brotherhood here and a possible outcome for her to be a Master Assassin, to which she was flattered.
