Cerberus is the mythological hound of Hades, set to guard the Greek underworld. He is often depicted with three heads, along with snake for a tail.

One of Herakles' twelve labours was to catch Cerberus.

During the Peloponnesian War, a triplet of brothers called themselves the Cerberus on the island of Kos.[1]
