Bubares (died c. 422 BCE), also known as the Conspirator, was a Persian emissary and a member of the Order of the Ancients during the 5th century BCE.
Biography
As a member of the Order of Hunters branch, Bubares was sent to Makedonia in Greece to hunt down Darius and his son Natakas during the Peloponnesian War. Serving under Pactyas, Bubares was tasked to recruit the Makedonians into their branch and expand their influence. However, this attempt was eventually foiled and discovered by Darius with the aid of the misthios Kassandra.[1]
Trivia
- Bubares shares the same name with a Persian nobleman and engineer, who is a cousin of King Xerxes I of Persia.
