Bertha was an Anglo-Saxon woman in England during the 9th century.

History

Bertha lived in Taedden's Shelf, Yorkshire. She fell in love with the local ale brewer Aldwyn, and tried in vain to woo him with her rhymes.

When Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan came across Betha standing outside Aldwyn's house, she requested Eivor's aid in wooing Aldwyn. Eivor did some research and suggested Bertha complement his ale. The trick worked and Aldwyn soon invited Bertha inside.[1]
