Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is a short French webcomic created by Glénat Editions. The comic, written by Mathieu Gabella with art by Paolo Traisci and colors by Fabien Alquier,[1] was released on 26 November 2020. It served as a tie-in to the video game of the same name, and followed the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan as she raided a monastery.
Plot
The comic begins with a couple rushing their cart into a village, warning them of a Viking raid coming from the forest. The guards quickly shut the gates after them and prepare for a battle. Unbeknownst to them, the couple was actually Eivor and an ally, infiltrating the village in order to pillage the monastery from within. Shedding their disguises as they reach the church, they part ways, with Eivor heading for the copyists' chamber. There, she finds the monk Edward and gives him a choice: come with her, or lose his hands.
Meanwhile, the guards kept the Vikings at bay with arrow volleys from their bows, before realizing it was another ruse and the attackers would come on a longship. Eivor and her ally set fire to the monastery. Edward asked if they were going to take the treasure, to which Eivor responded that they had surveilled the monastery for weeks and Edward was the true treasure, being the best copyist of the region.
Some fights broke out while the pair of Vikings escorted Edward to the wall overlooking the river, where he once again questioned Eivor, this time about what they would do to him if the ransom was not paid. Eivor said that since the monks wrote so much on Vikings, that he could hazard a guess, after all, "we massacre entire villages [and] we're crazy."
With the longboat passing beneath them, the trio jumped.
