Thespis (fl. 424 BCE – 422 BCE) was an Athenian actor and friend of Aristophanes who lived during the late 5th century BCE.
History
Around 424 BCE, Thespis was involved in a plot, alongside Aristophanes, to sabotage the reputation of Kleon, a Sage of a branch of the Cult of Kosmos.[1]
Later in 422 BCE, he was present in Elis to conduct a play portraying King Leonidas I of Sparta, sponsored by Rhodanthe. Kassandra helped him in this endeavour.[2]
