- ―Silanos of Paros[src]
Silanos of Paros (died 429 BCE) was the obligarch of Paros Island and a member of the Cult of Kosmos who had infiltrated the Peloponnesian League during the Peloponnesian War.
Biography
When Silanos discovered the whereabouts of Myrrine, and that she had become the leader of Naxos Island, the Cult disposed of the leader of the neighboring Paros Island so that Silanos could take his place. Silanos also posed as an Athenian strategos in order to get the people of Paros behind his plan to take down Myrrine and claim the Naxos Island.[1]
Along the way, Silanos ambushed and captured an admiral who was close to Myrrine, Euneas. Silanos' men attempted to break Euneas so that he would betray Naxos and Myrrine. Before that could happen, though, the Spartan misthios Kassandra rescued Euneas.[2]
After foiling the Cult's assassination attempt on Myrrine's life, Kassandra joined Myrrine's Spartan forces aboard the Adrestia and they faced the Parian fleet, with Silanos captaining the trireme the Amber Dawn.[3] As the Adrestia rammed the Amber Dawn, Silanos was thrown from his ship, causing him to lose the lower part of his body. Silanos noticed his entrails being eaten by fishes before ultimately succumbing to his wounds.[4]
Trivia
- Silanos, much like the members of the Gods of the Aegean Sea branch, does not have to have his death "confirmed" by the player; as he is fought at sea, the player can simply sink his ship rather than board it, which will still result in the rewards specific to killing Silanos being issued.
