The Siege of Paris was a Viking raid on the Seine River, in the Kingdom of Francia. The siege was an important event in the reign of Frankish king Charles the Fat, and a turning point for the Carolingian dynasty and France. It also proved the strategic importance of Paris for the Franks since it was one of the largest cities throughout all of Western Europe. The outnumbered Franks successfully defended the city from a an army of 30,000-40,000 Viking raiders led by Rollo. Additionally, Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan was a participant in the siege.[1]
