Pleistos (died c. 430 BCE) was a priest of Asklepios working at the Sanctuary of Asklepios in Argolis, Greece during the 5th century BCE.
Biography
At some point before the Peloponnesian War, Pleistos came to work for Chrysis, and via her the Cult of Kosmos. He agreed to watch the Sanctuary of Asklepios for Chrysis, and especially the priests, who had all been forbidden to talk to the 'Eagle Bearer', the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
When Kassandra came to the Sanctuary during the Peloponnesian War Pleistos spied a fellow priest, Timoxenos, talking with her, and interrupted them.[2]
Not believing their excuses for the meeting, Pleistos followed them to the Olive Tree of Herakles, and attacked them with guards of the Cult of Kosmos. Kassandra slew them.[2]
Trivia
- Pleistos shares his name with a river as well as its god in Phokis.
- Depending on the dialogue choices made in Written in Stone, Pleistos would either have Timoxenos killed, leaving his body at the meeting site for Kassandra to find before confronting her. Otherwise, Pleistos would confront them both.
