Phemios was a bandit archer who operated in a bandit camp on an island off the coast of Phokis, Greece in the 5th century BCE.
Biography
During the Peloponnesian War, Phemios made a name for himself as an expert archer, such that Barnabas, the captain of the Adrestia, considered him to be one of the best archers he had ever encountered. Because of this, Barnabas wanted to recruit Phemios aboard the Adrestia.[1]
In 431 BCE, Barnabas requested his newly-joined commander, the Spartan misthios Kassandra, to recruit Phemios so as to make up for some of the crew he had lost to pirates recently. Kassandra agreed and travelled to the hideout, successfully recruiting Phemios after a bit of struggle.[1]
