The Northern Monastery was an Anglo-Saxon Christian monastery build along the River Severn in the northeastern part of the region. It was home to a large number of monks and was protected by a sizeable military force.
In the 9th century, it was raided multiple times by the Vikings Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, Vagn, and her longship crew. During one of these raids, she discovered a clue of the whereabouts of Saint George's armour set.[1] She later returned to defeat a mercenary, one of the "Champions of Faith", and recovered Rollo's Lost Dane Axe.[2]
