Neokles was a general of the Athenian elite guard during the Peloponnesian War, dispatched to the Silver Islands.

Biography

Neokles was assigned as a captain to the garrison on Mykonos to help Podarkes, the king of the Silver Islands, with rooting out the rebellion on the islands. However, at some point Neokles "turned his back" to the Delian League, and fled his post.^[1]

An order was sent out for all of the remaining Athenians on the islands to find and kill Neokles. While hunting down the other strategoi, the Spartan misthios Kassandra found these orders on one of them, and used them to track down Neokles, who had hidden himself within Farm of Elais in the Kynthos Hills on Delos.^[1]

Athenian soldiers had also found the farm when Kassandra reached it, but they had not yet found Neokles.^[1]

Trivia

Neokles can be recruited as a lieutenant for the ship Adrestia.
