Amyris (died 431 BCE) was a priest working in the Sanctuary of Delphi during the 5th century BCE.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Appointed as a priest at Delphi, Amyris befriended a group of other priests. Around 431 BCE, they came up with a plan to become rich. Their plan included stealing precious sapphires from a treasury in the sanctuary, and selling them to someone in the Desphina Fort. However, while travelling through the Korykian Cave, Amyris was ambushed and killed by a group of bandits.[1]
Sometime after, tasked by her former mentor and friend Photios, now a guard at the Sanctuary, the Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the cave and found Amyris' remains, as well as a note directing her to Desphina Fort.[1]
