The Fishing District was the poor quarter of Athens, Greece.

At some point, Metiochos, a friend of Perikles and a statesman, visited the Fishing District, talking to the people. He was received with insults and rotten food.[1]

The men behind the attack later assaulted Metiochos at his home, tying him up and leaving him alone in the middle of venomous snakes they had gotten from a man living outside Athens' walls. Following this attempt, the Spartan misthios Kassandra came to investigate the Fishing District in order to find the culprits, including Aktis and Pratinos.[1]
