Eluric was a Anglo-Saxon man, who lived in Maeldun, Essexe, during the 9th century. One of the inhabitants of Maeldun, Eluric was shown to be the brother of a woman named Alfida, until he found out that Alfida was actually his mother.
Biography

As a child, Eluric grew up in Maeldun and raised solely by Alfida, as she lied to him about his true parentage. As he grew up, Eluric was seen as strong-hearted but somewhat soft as well. For his whole life, Eluric lived besides Alfida, as she took care of him without any outside help.[1]
Finding out the Truth
In 875, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan agreed to break the marriage of Birstan and Estrid through a ruse of a kidnap. Thus, by Birstan's request, Eivor went to Maeldun to find his lost childhood sweetheart.[2] After investigating her home, Eivor found nobody while guards surrounded the premise. After hunting wild boars with Birstan for Alfida, Eivor and the ealdorman went back to his house and greeted a waiting Alfida. However, the greeting was cut short as Eluric walked in and insulted Alfida's choices. Arguing, Alfida stated that she cannot continue coddling him while Eluric stated that this whole farce was contigent on his love and commitment to her. Eluric also doubted his worth and almost called a Alfida a derogatory word. Alfida stopped him and stated that Birstan was the father of her child. To everyone's shock, Eluric looked and became angry as he realized that Alfida is his mother and Birstan is his father. Eluric promised Alfida that he will not forgive and left abruptly as Alfida fell to the floor. Birstan assured Alfida that their boy would come back as he needed to let off some steam.[3]
