That bloody necklace is one of my pet peeves in ACOd. A common error, apparently, but...meh.

*The necklace worn by Dymas featured the {{Wiki|Rod of Asclepius}}, wielded by the Greek god of medicine [[Asklepios]].
*The necklace worn by Dymas is not the {{Wiki|Rod of Asclepius}} one might expect, but the [[Staff of Hermes Trismegistus|caduceus]]. The main difference between the two is that the former has just one snake, whereas the latter has two.

Dymas was a physician working at Fort Tiryns in Argolis, Greece during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography

During the war, Dymas was employed to work at Fort Tiryns and treat the wounded stationed there. At one point, the commander of the fort stole Hippokrates' notes on the diseases of the mind, and gave them to Dymas. The notes were burned in an attack on the fort, but not before Dymas had committed them to memory.[1]

In an attempt to help Hippokrates, the Spartan misthios Kassandra sought out Dymas at Fort Tiryns, and requested the notes. Lacking them, she asked that Dymas come with her instead, to help Hippokrates.[1]

Trivia

  • The necklace worn by Dymas is not the Rod of Asclepius one might expect, but the caduceus. The main difference between the two is that the former has just one snake, whereas the latter has two.
