Dmitry Karakozov (1840 – 1866) was a Russian political activist who became known as the first revolutionary in the Russian Empire to make an attempt on the life of the Tsar. He was one of the young apprentices inducted by the British Assassin Simeon Price during the Assassin's time in Russia.
In 1866, he made a failed attempt to assassinate Tsar Alexander II and was hanged for his crime, while his friends and accomplices were sent to either prison, hard labor, or exile in Siberia.[1]
