Zarax Point: Difference between revisions

The Zarax Point formed the easternmost region of Lakonia, Greece. The smallest region in Lakonia, it bordered only with the Helot Hills and the Aegean Sea. A natural spit, it was only home to the Fort of Praisai.

During the Peloponnesian War, the misthios Kassandra visited the Fort of Praisai in the region, having been tasked by King Pausanias to cull rogue krypteia, one of which was stationed at the fort.^[1]

Trivia

The region is named after a town called Zarax, situated on the eastern coast of Lakonia in Ancient Greece.
It appears to be located on the same promontory that is today occupied by Monemvasia, a town established in the early Middle Ages that also contains a fort.
